A grant-funded expansion of Dash robots gives students in two coding clubs hands-on, one-to-one access to robotics.

The Education Foundation awarded a $3,021.50 grant to Crofton Elementary to purchase eight additional Dash robots, bringing the school’s total fleet to twelve. This addressed the need for greater access to hands-on robotics instruction across STEM classes and after-school programs.

With a full set of twelve robots, Crofton Elementary could run two coding clubs where each student had their own robot, giving them the time and space to tackle more challenging, creative coding activities and build confidence through exploration. The expanded fleet also made it possible to bring Dash into whole-class instruction, with students collaborating in small groups to solve coding challenges and discover new capabilities together.

The result has been increased engagement, stronger problem-solving skills, and a classroom culture built around creativity, collaboration, and computational thinking.
